Mobile phone gamers in Jordan spend a daily average of 40 minutes on electronicgames, according to Ipsos Jordan.
The figures, posted on the research firm’s Twitter account, showed that 79 per cent of those who play digital games in the Kingdom play them on mobile phones.
Only 9 per cent of electronic gamers in the country play games on actual gaming consoles, while 38 per cent of Jordanian electronic gamers play games online.
The figures indicated that 54 per cent of adults in Jordan play electronic games, with action games, cards and sports topping the list of gaming genres popular among Jordanians.
Meanwhile, 75.6 per cent of Jordanian Internet users access social networking sites, with a majority using Facebook, according to Ipsos Jordan.
The figures indicated that 17.4 per cent of male Internet users do not use social networks, while 67.1 per cent of female Internet users frequent social networking sites.
In addition, 14 per cent of Internet users in west Amman do not use social media.
Among Jordanian Twitter users, 55.8 per cent are below the age of 24 years old, Ipsos Jordan figures showed, while only 5.2 per cent of Internet users above 15 years old use LinkedIn.
Smartphone penetration in Jordan stands at 55.1 per cent, thus overtaking both feature and basic phones combined, the statistics revealed.
Moreover, tablet penetration in Jordan stands at 17.8 per cent and about one in three Jordanians is aware of Google Glass.
Around 15 companies in the Kingdom work in the field of digital gaming, according to the Jordan Gaming Task Force.
Jordan, which is the largest producer of digital games in the region, contributes about 60 per cent of the games developed in the Middle East.
Founded in 2011, the Jordan Gaming Task Force seeks to develop the electronic gaming industry in the region.
